The thought of paying for school can be overwhelming. The costs of tuition, textbooks, supplies, transportation and housing can add up quickly. Easing some of your financial burden can help to reduce your stress and let you focus on what’s important: your education. Here are a few opportunities to take advantage of that can reduce the cost of university.
United Financial CU Scholarships
Every year we offer our young members the opportunity to apply for one of our four college scholarships awards, each in the amount of $500. The deadline to submit applications is March 31, 2021. For more information visit our Scholarship page.
Scholarships Through Your College
No matter what place of higher education you decide to attend, there will surely be opportunities for scholarships that you can apply for. Delta College, Saginaw Valley State University, and Central Michigan University offer countless academic and non-academic scholarships to help ease the burden of college.
Community Foundations
Charities, such as Community Foundations, help to pool funds together to support a geographic area through grants, non-profits, and scholarships. We have many great foundations in the area that offer scholarships to college bound students such as the Saginaw Area Community Foundation, the Midland Area Community Foundation, and the Bay Area Community Foundation.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is not a scholarship, and in most circumstances you are required to pay back the money, but it’s still worth it to apply. Even if you think you or your parents make too much to qualify for any kind of assistance, it’s better to apply and get a small amount in aid than not try at all!
